No matter how well you groom your house, there’s always foul odor that’s lurking underneath. Oftentimes, it’s difficult to get rid of the stench, especially if it’s coming from food and pets.

One thing’s for sure, every house has its own unique smell, but to have unpleasant odors around will definitely spoil the appearance of your home. Moreover, a combination of odors from pets, rotting food, and chemicals can also turn off visitors and create unhealthy indoor environment.

That being said, you will need to find a way to get rid of foul odor wherever they lurk. Here are a few tips to do just that.

1. Deodorize your fridge

If your fridge contains rotting food, then you already know where much of the odor is coming from. You may want to clean out the fridge by getting rid of expired food and defrosting the freezer compartment. After you take out the clutter, you can then wipe the interior of your fridge using baking soda and water. This will absorb the remaining stench.

2. Pamper your bathroom

It’s hard to take a bath in a bathroom that reeks! If you haven’t given your bathroom an in-depth cleaning, you may want to start right away. Make sure to wear a mask and rubber gloves. You should be able to start with the toilet by scrubbing the lid using a toilet bowl cleaner. Also, you need to declog the drains and the toilet considering that debris can get stuck inside pipes and emit a rancid odor. A solution to this is to pour a bottle of liquid lye to dissolve the blockage.

3. Take out the trash

Somehow, people would want to avoid taking out the trash as if it’s the hardest chore to do, and yet it’s one of the most important. Aside from stinking up your home, trash can also invite rats and cockroaches which can bring a wide array of diseases. That said, you will need to throw the trash away and make sure there’s not a whiff of stench left in the trash bin. It helps to pour some vinegar on a slice of bread and leave it in the bin overnight to absorb any residual odor.
