cleanhouseservicesinc

If you’re a cuisine enthusiast, having a clean kitchen is an important part of your craft. You will have to keep your utensils clean to maintain their efficiency and longevity. But aside from knives and pans, you also need to clean your cutting boards.

After all, we use cutting boards all the time when we prepare delicious meals. Then again, salmonella and E. coli can reside on the surface of your cutting boards and transfer to the food you’re preparing.

Hence, cleaning your cutting boards is the same as ensuring food safety. With these in mind, let’s look at a few ways you can clean these tools.

1. Lemons, Lemons!

Lemons are high in citric acid, which makes them the best natural cleaners. It’s an alternative cleaning agent that can remove stains, especially those found on your cutting boards, but that’s not all. It can also help in killing germs lurking on your cutting boards while leaving you with a fresh scent.

Tip: Rub the lemon onto the stain and let it sit overnight. Rinse and dry.

2.  Hydrogen Peroxide and Vinegar

Hydrogen Peroxide has earned its reputation as a fantastic cleaner and disinfectant. Its powerful oxidizing property makes it a powerful bacteria killer.

Tip: You’ll need white vinegar and 3% hydrogen peroxide. First, clean with vinegar then spray on the hydrogen peroxide. Make sure the surface is evenly coated. Second, have the entire surface sprayed then leave it for 2 to 3 minutes, wipe it and let it dry.

3. Baking Soda and Vinegar

Baking soda is one of the most favorite cleaning agents. It’s the best cleaning partner of vinegar. Their one-two punch reaction against germs works wonders!

Tip:  Sprinkle some baking soda on the cutting board then pour some vinegar before rinsing.

4. Bleach

Using a bleach solution is a powerful way to get rid of stains, foul odors, and residue from your cutting boards. A diluted amount of bleach, on the other hand, is best suited for sanitizing.

Tip: Make a solution using 1/8 bleach and 7/8 water. Using a wet sponge, scrub the cutting board. Rinse well.

The key to food preparation starts in your kitchen. Whether it’s a cutting board or any utensil, it makes sense to clean these tools frequently. One thing’s for sure, this is a great way to safeguard your family’s health.
